Claude Watermark Checker & AI Writing Detector
Check Claude text for hidden Unicode, invisible formatting, and AI-style writing patterns. The free scan runs locally and clearly separates inspectable signals from Anthropic's official watermark.
Current status: Anthropic says supported new Claude models include imperceptible text watermarks, while public detection mechanisms and technical details are forthcoming.
What this checker can detect today
- Zero-width characters, directional controls, and unusual spaces.
- Formulaic AI-style phrasing and repetitive writing patterns.
- Whether the sample is long enough for a more stable local review.
Claude watermark checker FAQ
Does Claude watermark text?
Yes, for supported new Claude models. Anthropic says models launched in the EU on or after August 2, 2026 include an imperceptible, machine-readable text watermark. Coverage and behavior can vary by model and workflow.
Can this tool detect Claude's official text watermark?
No. Anthropic says public detection mechanisms and technical details are forthcoming. This checker separately finds inspectable Unicode formatting and AI-style writing patterns without presenting either signal as official Claude verification.
Does copying and pasting remove a Claude watermark?
Anthropic says the watermark is part of the text, travels through copy and paste, and may survive some editing. Copying alone therefore should not be treated as reliable removal.
Can rewriting remove or weaken a Claude watermark?
Anthropic says heavy editing, paraphrasing, translation, mixing with other text, and very short passages can make watermark detection less reliable. This tool only removes listed formatting characters and does not claim to remove Claude's watermark.
What are hidden Unicode characters?
They are invisible or unusual text-formatting characters such as zero-width spaces, directional controls, and nonstandard spaces. They can appear for ordinary reasons and are not proof of an AI watermark.
Does QuestStudio upload or store the text I check?
No. The text analysis runs locally in your browser. Anonymous usage analytics contain result categories and word-count bands, not the submitted text.
