Separate a mix into stems you can review

Stem separation estimates the parts of an existing recording. It does not recover the original studio tracks. Start with the cleanest mix you have permission to process, then listen to each result before using it in a remix, instrumental or video edit. Music Lab opens directly in its stem-splitting mode.

Creative job Start with Decision rule
Make an instrumental from an authorized mix Separate the source mix Compare the non-vocal parts against the source. Residual words or watery cymbals may make a result unsuitable even when the vocal is quieter.
Keep better source stems when available Suno stems export guide Prefer original service exports when they preserve more information. Separation cannot recreate detail already lost in a compressed mix.

A controlled workflow that wastes fewer generations

  1. Choose an audio file you own or are authorized to process. Keep an untouched copy and note its duration.
  2. Open stem separation, sign in if needed and upload the file. Review the access and usage requirements shown in the app before processing.
  3. Download the available vocals, drums, bass and other parts. Keep their names and start positions together when importing them into an editor.
  4. Solo the stems to check bleed, clipped consonants and missing transients, then recombine them to check timing. Keep the original mix if the separated version fails the job.

Questions before you generate

Which parts does the splitter return?

Music Lab presents vocals, drums, bass and other audio when the separation job returns those outputs. They are estimates from the mix, not isolated recordings from the original session.

Will all vocals disappear from the instrumental?

No. Reverb, backing voices and instruments sharing the same frequencies can leave bleed or artifacts. Listen at the intended playback level before publishing.

Does this include permission to remix a song?

No. You must have permission for the recording and your intended use. Processing a file does not grant publishing or performance rights.

Is separation unlimited and free?

Do not assume unlimited free processing. The app requires the appropriate account access and displays the applicable usage requirements. Check the current plans before starting paid work.
