A poster can look finished while its price, accent mark or booking address is wrong. Treat text in an AI image as unapproved copy until someone compares every required string with an authoritative copy sheet. If accuracy matters, keep a route back to editable type.

Quick answer: Lock the exact words first. Separate the artwork from essential copy where possible, compare every character in a rendered proof, and inspect the final export at its display size. Correct critical text in an editor with editable text layers when regeneration cannot preserve it.

1. Create a copy contract before making the image

Put the approved headline, dates, prices, symbols, address and action in a plain-text file. Give each string an ID and an owner. State whether capitalization, punctuation, line breaks and accents are fixed or flexible. This is the reference for review; neither the prompt history nor the latest attractive image should silently become the source of truth.

Check the underlying information before checking typography. A perfectly rendered wrong date still fails. Have the appropriate owner confirm the offer, destination and required wording. If copy is unresolved, mark it unresolved rather than filling the design with a plausible invented value that may escape into the export.

For the broader composition process, use the editable poster workflow. Here the goal is narrower: decide whether the words in a candidate match what was approved.

2. Review a deliberately defective café proof

The following fictional café exercise uses deliberately introduced text errors. It is ordinary HTML text, not an image-model result or a claim about a particular generator. It lets you practice the comparison without confusing generated artwork with verified information.

FieldApproved stringDefective proofFinding
NameCAFÉ MORACAFE MORAThe accent is missing.
OfferENTRY £8ENTRV $8Y became V; the currency changed.
TimeDOORS 18:30DOORS 18:00The opening time changed.
ActionBOOK AT THE COUNTERBOOK AT THE COUNTERMatches the approved string.

The unchanged action line does not make the whole proof acceptable. Reject this version, mark the specific errors, and repair all three failed fields. The currency error changes the offer's meaning; it is not a harmless font choice. The accent may be part of the organization's approved name, even if a spellchecker accepts the unaccented word.

Download the exact-copy sheet (TSV) and blank proof-review log (CSV). Replace the fictional strings with your approved copy before using the sheets on a real job.

3. Decide which words should stay out of generation

Generate the visual layer without critical copy when you need dependable editing: prices, names, contact details, legal wording, product instructions or repeated campaign variants. Reserve a calm region for the text and place the words afterward in a layout editor. That approach lets you change an offer without regenerating the subject or background.

If the text must interact with the scene, such as lettering painted onto a fictional prop, try a short exact string in the prompt and review the result carefully. Keep a replacement path. Text that looks convincing from a distance can still contain merged letters, extra strokes or invented characters when inspected.

Do not call a raster image an editable document merely because the tool offers editing. Pixel editing and text-layer editing are different capabilities. Before relying on a tool, confirm that you can select the actual text object, replace a character and export the required format without rebuilding the artwork.

4. Inspect the characters, then inspect the reading experience

Use two passes. First compare each string against the copy contract, left to right, including punctuation, spacing, accents and symbols. Check commonly confused pairs such as O/0, I/l/1 and rn/m. For long numbers, compare grouped chunks against the source without changing the approved formatting.

Then inspect the words as a viewer would see them. Are strokes distinguishable? Is the price separated from its qualifier? Does a line break make the address ambiguous? Does a decorative character resemble a different letter? Exact spelling is necessary, but a technically correct string can still be hard to read.

For copy in a language you cannot confidently read, have a competent reader review it. Do not infer correctness from visual similarity or a translation back into your own language. Preserve the approved script and punctuation through the actual export path, especially when a fallback font may change shaping.

OCR can help find a suspicious field or compare extracted text with the copy sheet. It can also misread a correct word or normalize a defective one. Treat its output as an aid to review. The person approving the asset still needs to inspect the visible characters, not just the recognized text.

5. Choose a repair that preserves approved work

If one short decorative word fails and the rest of the scene is disposable, another controlled generation may be reasonable. If the layout, subject and lighting already passed, repeatedly generating the whole image can introduce new defects. Keep the accepted visual and replace the text layer or repair the text region in an appropriate editor.

For a conventional flat poster, remove defective raster lettering cleanly, then add the approved string as editable type. Check alignment, contrast, spacing and the background beneath it. For a photographed surface, perspective, curvature, texture and lighting matter too; a flat label pasted onto a curved package may look wrong even when the words match.

When the original source text is unreadable, do not invent what it probably says. Obtain the approved artwork or copy. The image fact-check workflow helps separate an observation from an unsupported assumption. A text repair should restore approved information, not create it.

Use a new candidate filename after repair. Mark exactly which fields changed, and recheck nearby text. Editing one region can disturb a neighboring glyph or introduce an accidental duplicate. Never transfer an old approval to a new export without looking at the changed file.

6. Verify the final size and destination

Open the exported file outside the editor. Compare every field once more, then view it at the size and crop people will actually see. Thin strokes may disappear after reduction; compression may join letters; a feed crop may remove a qualifier. For print, check the required dimensions and obtain an appropriate proof before a substantial run.

Provide important information as accessible page text as well when publishing on the web. An image-only announcement makes essential details harder to select, search and access. Write useful alternative text for the image's purpose, and keep the actual dates, prices and actions available in the surrounding content.

You can create the artwork in Image Lab and finish the critical wording in your chosen text-layout tool. Image Lab does not promise native editable typography layers. If the task is mainly correcting an existing picture, compare the options in the editing versus generation guide before replacing the whole asset.

Save the copy contract, accepted export and review log together. When the price or schedule changes, update the source string first and identify every placement that used it. This makes the next revision a controlled copy change rather than a search through old images.

Frequently asked questions

Can a correctly spelled AI image still fail text review?

Yes. A wrong date, currency, price or address can be spelled perfectly. Compare the visible wording with approved information, then check legibility and placement at the final display size.

Should I use OCR to approve the final image?

Use OCR as a supporting check, not the final decision. It may normalize or misread characters. Compare the actual visible text with the approved copy sheet, including accents, punctuation and symbols.

When should I switch to editable text?

Use editable type when words must be exact, will change often, or cannot be reliably preserved in generation. Keep the artwork separate so correcting a price or name does not require replacing the whole visual.

Does Image Lab export editable typography layers?

The current image workflow does not promise native editable text layers. Prepare artwork there, then use a layout editor that lets you select and revise the actual text objects when the job requires that control.

Was the café proof generated by an AI model?

No. The café and its copy are fictional. The defective strings were deliberately written in HTML to demonstrate a review process. They are not a benchmark or an observed failure of a particular model.
